Can you introduce yourself?

Hi, my name is Dayna and I’m a 23-year-old British-Iranian multidisciplinary creative. In addition to my full-time role as Short Course planning assistant at University of the Arts London, I work as a freelance fashion journalism tutor at Central Saint Martins, copywriter for B2B and B2C clients across the creative sector, and arts and culture journalist with bylines in gal–dem, ELLE and LOVE magazine.

In 2021, I graduated with a first-class honours bachelor’s degree in fashion journalism from Central Saint Martins, where I launched a multi-award shortlisted publication, called PLASTER Mag. Whilst at university, I did a variety of editorial, marketing, PR and styling internships at Christopher Kane, ELLE UK, The Times, YOU magazine, Fashion Revolution and the British Fashion Council.

Outside of work, I'm a dog lover - the kind where I want to be around dogs, but not own one myself. Think of me like the fun aunt, but for canines. I'm also a culture addict, which I attribute to my teenage years spent flicking through magazines and going to exhibitions at my favourite museums. The other thing you should know about me is that I’m a baking enthusiast, vicariously living my Mary Berry fantasies through old series of the Great British Bake Off. Fundamentally, I feel my happiest when I'm in the company of my loved ones, creatively stimulated and expressing myself through writing, which brings us to the next part.

What is Partly Freelance all about?

Partly Freelance is a monthly newsletter, platform, and community for twenty-something year-old creatives juggling a 9-to-5 and freelance life. It’s for anyone who craves the freedom, opportunities and variety that comes with going freelance, but doesn’t want to sacrifice the routine, financial stability and job security that’s typically enabled by a full-time job.

I launched Partly Freelance because I know I’m not the only person who is sick and tired of reading articles, listening to podcasts, and hearing influencers preach about quitting your 9-to-5 to achieve the utopian working life saturating our social media feeds. If we’ve learned anything from the pandemic lockdowns and the ensuing cost of living crisis, it’s that freelancers face even more uncertainty than ever.

So, consider Partly Freelance as a candid space to discuss these issues, learn new skills, gain inspiration, and find out how to achieve the golden balance for you.

What types of subscriptions do you offer?

If you become a free subscriber, you can expect to receive my monthly newsletter directly in your inbox, along with regular public posts.

However, for only £3.50 a month (cheaper than an oat latte nowadays) or £38.50 a year, paid subscribers will gain access to all my posts and the full archive, the ability to comment on posts and chat with our community, and access to join live freelancer interviews and skills workshops. As for founding members, £60.00 a year will get you access to all the above, plus a one-to-one coaching session with me.

Each and every paid subscription is hugely appreciated and will give me the means to grow, improve, and expand the scope of Partly Freelance. Thanks for reading this far - I hope you join our community!
